Hinganghat is a town in the district of Wardha in Maharashtra. It is also the headquarters of Hinganghat taluka and is administered by Municipal council.

Geography of Hinganghat

Hinganghat is situated at 20.57oN 78.83o E. The total area of the town is 12.77 Sq Km and comes with an elevation of 215m (705 feet). Vena River flows through the town and provides the town with natural resources. Hinganghat is 34 Kms away from Wardha city and it is 75 Kms away from the Nagpur city. 

Climate of Hinganghat

Tropical climate prevails in Hinganghat town. Summers receive more rainfall than the winters. The climate of the town is classified as Aw by Koppen and Geiger. The annual average temperature of the town is 27.5oC and the annual average rainfall is 1138 mm. May experiences the maximum temperature and December experiences the coldest temperature.

Administration of Hinganghat

The town is administered by Municipal Corporation which provides all the basic amenities needed by the residents of the town. The town is divided into 33 wards for which elections are held once in five years. The Municipal Corporation also imposes and collects taxes.

Business and Economy of Hinganghat

Since the town is situated in Wardha Valley which is fertile, it is a hub of cotton trade of India.  Four largest textile mills as well as spinning and weaving mills are also situated here. Apart from cotton industry, the town also has oil industries and several small as well as medium scale industries are situated here.

Jain Temple

This beautiful temple was established in the year 1955 by Bansilal Kochar. The temple is adorned with glass. This temple is one among Vidarbha region’s more beautiful temples. 

Amba Devi Temple

This temple is dedicated to Goddess Amba and is a finest example of Vidarbha region’s religious architecture. The local legend is that Lord Shri Krishna abducted Rukmini to Koundinyapur through the tunnel found in this temple.

Mata Mandir

Oldest temple of the city is Mata Mandir and devotees worship Garba here. Ganpatrao Sadashiv Mawle donated the land for this temple. Navratri is celebrated with great fervor.

How to Reach Hinganghat

The town of Hinganghat is well connected by road to other major cities of the Maharashtra state. NH 7 passes through the city. MSRTC buses as well as private buses operate here. The town also has a railway station which falls under Delhi-Chennai Railway line and all express trains passing through Hinganghat stop here. However, Wardha is the major railway junction which is situated 35 Kms away from the town. The nearest airport is Sonegaon airport which is situated at 70 Kms away from the town.
